Some kind of maraca, it rattled when shaken.

I thought it might be a Digerardo...but wait,I said. How do you play it sideways,I asked myself. I must ask yon Speedy. He shall know and will enlighten moi...ahem...and so he did..for which I am thankful

He's not in the pic, but there was a guy playing steel guitar (or slide guitar). I had never seen one played up close, that was pretty cool. These guys were pretty good for just some local peeps/ friends of friends.

That thing the lady is playing might be called a rainmaker. If you hold it sideways and shake it it rattles or if you slowly roll it end to end it sounds like rain.
