HoDo: Restaurants are much cheaper (proportional to the average income) in China. So, most people eat out pretty often. It's when they loosen up a bit and socialize. Most malls (and there's a lot of malls) have a very high percentage of the spots filled with different types of food places for meals, snacks, ice cream, candy stores. Chinese don't eat to live - they live to eat.
