Riverrat: On the average about 50% goes in the garbage. We also throw a lot in the scrap metal pile. Most pots and pans and kitchen utensils, cheap tools and a lot of other stuff is just scrap metal. I also have mountains of paint brushes and extension cords. People don't buy cups, glasses or dishes unless it's a full set in good condition so a lot of that goes in the garbage. People store a lot of broken stuff and paperwork.
