Another true, boring story. When I was gray market selling computer and electronics crap for a living in the 90's, I started selling a lot of stuff on AOL when they put up sales boards. Made good money on stuff because it was the ONLY place to sell online. Anyway, as usual after awhile AOL saw the business being done there and moved to make rules to kinda stop people like me who were listing a lot of stuff for sale. They didn't want businesses on there apparently. Anyway, bout this time AOL had a meet and greet for their long time subscribers at the Hard Rock in Dallas. I went, saw Steve Case, who was CEO, and started asking him about this policy changes that were going to void my existence there. He was surrounded by people he was trying to smooze and here I am, bitching at him. He quickly tells me to talk to one of his underlings across the room and ignores me. I walk over to her, start in on her, and of course she gets pissed and defensive and basically says they are looking at alternatives, yada yada yada. I can't remember the whole details, but they did change the rules that allowed all of us who were selling online to continue to do so in some fashion.

HechoAmano:
Maybe the reason you young whippersnappers never had AOL was because you weren't around when Compuserve was the only online access and it was $10 an hour? When AOL went to flat rate, it wiped everyone else out. I damn sure used it for $20 a month flat.
