It's a shame that it has become such a political thing just because the white supremacists use it as one of their emblems and have destroyed it as an emblem of southern heritage.

How many times must we repeat that the Civil War was not fought over Slavery....It was fought over State's rights....The Confederate Flag is a symbol of the South trying to save itself economically. Slavery didn't become an issue until(can anyone guess)? Show me your oats

^^River, are you slow? The confederate flag was only used for 4 years (DURING the civil war)... So to say something that lasted 4 years of use is "heritage" is a stretch... It is however HISTORY, and as such, should be relegated to museums and text books...

its hard to make everybody happy about our past, i mean some folks want cotton banned from the drug bottles..... Because they find it offensive to have to pick the cotton out.

yeah, they're wanting to take down statues of confederate officers, etc. it's all just a bunch of feel good, politically correct, grandstanding and it won't do anything to solve the problem. racial relations are at its worst thanks to our great "divider in chief". i really find it offensive that racism in the media, politics, etc is only acknowledged as white against black. the racism runs equally if not more so in the black community. it's getting really old.

Black racism against Latino Americans is well known. Some white,black and brown people are trying to live in harmony but the hate keeps on keepin on. People brought up in hate will continue to embrace it.Seems that the hate mongers get all the attention that they relish and use the power of the attention for wrong. Just as wrong as any other race or position of authority
