Riverrat: A lot of old trikes were made from VW beetles. They were fairly easy to make with a self contained rear engine and drive train.

ITM: This is a manufactured bolt on kit. I like the similarities to the old style police trikes....and the re-makes of the Tombstone taillights...cool
