a chevy engine. they should be shot. them kinda beds dont bring as much either. and real model 80's didnt come with duals. they were 3/4 ton 16 inch singles, like mine.

Riverrat:
But the way he did it makes for a much better daily driver then if it was just restored.

snippy:
with duals? i dont think so, they ride rough. 20 inch singles were an option for the 80 but ive never seen an 80 with duals, even in pictures till now. the 201 of the same years had duals and were 1 ton and they look just like this pic here.

snippy:
and im hearing the small block chevy fits in it like a glove.

Riverrat:
If they put in a softer suspension it wouldn't ride rough.

Homer:
So if they left it stock it would be worth 100k then..

Riverrat:
It was probably more the current market then how the truck was done.

Maynard:
old trucks suck!

snippy:
lol!^

snippy:
the stock ones are fantastic fun for shows and just putting around..... and the value on bone stock and well documented is usually greater then it will be on a hot rod(modified) because they are so rare anymore.... but the hot rod idea is alluring because then you can actually drive the fucker with modern traffic and keep up. i dont need the money so im free to do what ever i feel like without pangs of feeling like im fucking up... now after i croak wild thing might be pissed it aint stock but im feeling at the moment like hot rodding the oldt girl and driving it...

snippy:
and rats, for a nicer ride they been taking out a few rear leafs but any time you run duals the extra square inches on the road surface really bumps you around.

Riverrat:
There are lots of ways to soften the rear, removing leafs is one. Replacing the whole suspension with coil overs or air ride are a couple other options.

snippy:
i meant stock springs. that way it still looks original. air bags for hot rods but the guys who keep them stock and attempt to drive them around town remove the leafs. heres one on ebay that way. and this guy snuck a 5 speed into it too but looks orig.

Riverrat:
That looks like a nice one. But if you are going to replace the rearend then might as well put in a modern suspension as well and improve the ride and handling.

snippy:
well thats what im starting to think. ^ i noticed a jeep comanche frame fits right under this thing and is 4 wheel drive too.

Homer:
why would u change the frame? unless its messed up? leave it stock! for the love jebus leave it stock, if you want to hack up something get somethign they there are 250k of still on the road not something thats one of maybe 10!!!!!!!

snippy:
LOL!^ i know you are probably right Homre. i dont know whats going on with me maybe another mid life crisis? i hope i come to my sense's before i start buying a comanche and robbing the frame/axles/drive train. the wheelbase on the diamond t m80D is 119 inches and the track is only 5 feet 5 inches. exactly the same as the jeep comanche.

Riverrat:
That sounds like a good plan. Just lift the body of the jeep and set the Diamond T body on the jeep frame.

snippy:
im surprised aint no one else thunk it up yet. its genius.

Riverrat:
Yes it is. Probably no one else thought of it because of how few of them there are around. Not many people have one to play with.

BigJay:
Agrees with Snippy about the motor. Agrees with Homer about keeping everything else stock. Dude that restoredt it lost his ass. Guy that bought it stole it IMMFO Start changin shit, yer spending money to limit potential buyers
