Ridgerunner:
This is unacceptable, in the name of safety we need to shut everything down post haste!

Mutts_Nuts:
Shit both Maynard and Clammy 2.7% and Ratty 4.3% they are fucked!!!

Maynard:
for anyone who wants to answer....at what % should we shutdown?

Clammy:
Mutts !!!! 2.7 ? WTF, Mate !

A couple hundred thousand businesses were destroyed so for those people the American Dream was shattered. Haven't been able to find in the constitution where the government has that power.

Children lost a year of development that they can never get back. Haven't been able to find in the constitution where the government has that power.

gettheledout:
As we see from the CDC chart kids faced almost no risk, and it was microscopically higher for their parents. Those at risk should have stayed home and the government could have helped them as needed.

This whole thing has been so horrible. It's been politicized and caused a lot of division. A lot of people had to die alone because their family wasn't allowed to be at the bedside due to the Covid restrictions, and that in itself is criminal, imo. I understand the initial lockdown, but it shouldn't have lasted as long as it did or has, depending on where you live. At this point it's not about safety, it's about control. If it was ever really about everyone's well being, the media/social media/politicians wouldn't have squashed the Dr's who spoke out about treatments that worked and improved the survival rate. I'm skeptical about the true death tally and about everything our government and "the experts" are telling us.

If it was ever really about everyone's well being the democrats wouldn't have been mute about the rioting which directly violated their own lock down orders. You couldn't be with grandma when she died but you could throw Molotov cocktails and loot stores

My biggest peeve is the mask issue. I can understand if you're telling me a virus is moisture borne and people can spread it by coughing, sneezing or whatever onto other people. Wear a mask then when you need to. Then, when it turned into "Covid is airborne within 6 feet" wear your mask all the time, is when I started telling people that surgical paper and cloth masks don't do shit. My mother was nurse, a lot of her friends were doctors and nurses and I remember this subject coming up when Asia was first getting hit with SARs and they all said "those masks don't stop airborne anything!" and I was amazed at how many people said I was an idiot and those masks did help, and they were common people fools like myself. You'll have to excuse me, but you're full of shit, and I'll pay attention to the medical field on that one. Still wore my mask like a good boy, still laugh my ass off at people driving in their car wearing one.

what the graph clearly shows is that schools should not have been shut down

If you look at the social side of this, then pretty sure the answer is always "there is no acceptable death rate"...if you look at the real world side of this, I would guess that considering the info above, it would be an acceptable death rate. I can believe that the shutdown had an effect on number, just because of the sheer amount of people who stayed at home, but was the death rate work shutting down the country, which led to a lot of people out of work, lost of businesses shutting down for good, and here we are, supply chain still sucks, gas is $5 a gallon, steak is $25 and up a pound? Doesn't seem like anything has really returned to normal. I see empty shelves and out of stock items everyday. I see a shortage of workers which makes me wonder if people are still getting checks for sitting on their ass. The pandemic was actually a mini boom for the cigar business, as we could only figure that people staying at home were smoking more. But we fear that will be over soon since people can't run their cars on tobacco. Anyway, I think if you asked people who's job it is to put numbers on things like this, you know, war deaths, atomic bomb deaths, plagues deaths, genocide, etc. etc. I bet if they were honest they would say the above is a reasonable death rate, and we'd be a lot better off if the country hadn't been shut down because Karen was screaming about it on Twitter and Instagram.
