I would think that once you bend it so far , you're not allowed to bend it back without inspection due to cracks and other weakening.

From my old days in construction, this would require a trip from the city inspector, and probably a reinspection, rework, or a reconsideration of the build. In other words, what's gonna keep it from doing it again, unless they find out it was some dumass that didn't know what the fuck he was doing when he built it. Not exactly confidence inspiring.
