HechoAmano: It's worth maybe .75 cents. A non circulated mint condition several thousand. As to memory, this is the oldest penny I've found, and it was sitting in our "take a penny" change tray. I'm surprised at this day and age to still find so many wheat pennies still around. I have a small bag of them at the house, no idea why I collect them, gotta be some kinda disturbing obsession thing.

Riverrat: If my math is correct the current melt value of a penny is less then 0.01. If it's pure copper it would be 0.01 but being as it's only 95% it would be less then 0.01.

Riverrat: The current price of copper from the last time I went to the scrap yard is .13 an ounce. A penny weighs .09 ounces. That comes out to .01. The price you actually get at the scrap yard is more accurate then what google tells you.

And the current price of copper is 0.28 per ounce (at the close of market yesterday), if you're only getting 0.13 you're being ripped off! Guess there is a sucker born every minute... lol...
