HechoAmano: I personally know two people that got bills over $3000 within a couple days of the end of the worst of it. They were on market rate plans. The highest I heard was supposedly $17k. The state utility commission has stepped in, and claim they will be paying or renegotiating those crazy bills, but we'll see. I was worried cause the one I have was off contract and I was on a variable rate plan, but I think those have limits as well. They didn't charge me any higher rate.

HechoAmano: Yea, it's pretty bad. Texas grid wasn't prepared for this crap. Apparently Texas doesn't share any kind of national or multistate grid, so it's going to shit. Also, reports that plants didn't want to pay the spike in gas prices because they couldn't pass it on to consumers, but now the powers that be wrote an emergency saying they can. I live about a mile from a major power plant, my power's been on the whole time. I had a friend spend one night who was without power. It's a mess, roads aren't really that bad, but a lot of people freezing their ass off.
