Speedy: A retaining ring broke, one that holds the spring cylinders in place. Unbalanced spring pressure made the whole thing get whopperjawed and hang up.

Riverrat: whopperjawed is a technical term that has nothing to do with burger king. It's the same askiddywampus but not as severe.
