Aqua: Shelf life on Ammunition varies on the quality of the components. This 308 nato surplus ammunition is from the 60s, the primers are kinda crappy. Lots of duds, so I'm pulling the bullets, dumping the powder, popping out the primers and putting new primers in, and re loading them. This in particular is a hobby, I have an interesting way to pop out Berdan primers, which is a pain. Most people would toss Berdan primed brass. I enjoy playing with ammo only second to creating smiley faces :)

Riverrat: Do you try firing off the primer before removing it?

Aqua: Nope. I fill the cartridge with water, put the case in a case holder, using a punch the exact size of the bullet, pop it with a hammer through the top of the case. The water pressure pushes out the old primer through the case holder. Bam, pop in a new primer and your golden

BigJay: ^ That's pretty slick. You eliminate deforming the brass and causing a jam. Did you come up with that on yer own?

Aqua: I wish I could say that I did! I saw someone els do it on you tube... Ha!

Riverrat: Slick method but you probably get fairly wet in the process.
