If you read the article he says that when you make fun of someone or their religion you have to expect a reaction. Free speech doesn't mean you can say what you want and people won't react to it. He also said that wasn't defending the Paris attack. Killing in the name of God is wrong.

if you read the article^ it makes it plain the pope was defending the snackbars attack on the hebdo thing. the pope is clearly against free speech. free speech should be what hes defending not justifying future militant snackbar episodes with threats.
