Ridgerunner: AMEX is also the slowest in payments to merchants which isn’t favorable if you’re a cash flow business.

Riverrat: AMEX will also take the money back from the merchant if their card holder doesn't pay the bill. They are setup to not lose even if they have to screw everyone around them. I use to take AMEX but dropped them for all the reasons listed above.
