Nakkh: yes it is. I tried a while back during the last partial eclipse. Try lowest possible ISO with aperture set to F10 focus using live view zoom in using live view on the edge of the sun and focos that way. My 2ยข

Nakkh: keep the shutter speed high- under exposed is better than over. You can fix underexposure in post, Overexposure is gone for good.
