Nakkh:
It's tragic. How is a cop supposed to know if it's fake or the real deal?

gettheledout:
Yep. Sad

Riverrat:
I have gotten several airsoft guns in and people always paint over or remove the required by law orange ends so they can be identified as toys and not real guns. This story is a good example of why that's a bad idea. I always remove the paint or mask off the end and paint it orange before selling it. I don't want to be responsible for a tragedy like this. When the gun leaves my hands it's legal.

weave:
The orange tip thing is a bit stupid. What's to stop a bad guy from painting the tip of a real gun orange to cause a cop to hesitate for a second and give the bad guy an advantage in a situation?

Riverrat:
I agree, but so far that hasn't happened. When or if it does then things will have to change. But until then kids should keep their toy guns orange so they don't get shot.

snippy:
maybe we should paint the kids orange so they wont get shot?

Riverrat:
That won't keep them from being shot. It will just make them easier to see when you do shot them.

snippy:
maybe we should paint the cops orange so the kids can see them better to get away?

Fleedle:
just pass a law making guns illegal for everyone. simple

KingHade:
Weave, that already happens... There are numerous bulletins about it...

grayboy:
He reached into his waistband and grabbed it, how is anyone going to tell if it's fake or not in the heat of the moment, esp. With the so called orange 'safe' tip removed. When guns are freely available then accidents will happen.
