Ridgerunner: [the conversation between the two working stiffs] Guy on the left: Alright so when the sub routine compounds the interest is uses all these extra decimal places that just get rounded off. So we simplified the whole thing, we rounded them all down, drop the remainder into an account we opened. Guy on the right: [Confused] So you're stealing? Guy on the left: Ah no, you don't understand. It's very complicated. It's uh it's aggregate, so I'm talking about fractions of a penny here. And over time they add up to a lot. Guy on the right: Oh okay. So you're gonna be making a lot of money, right? Guy on the left: Yeah. Guy on the right: Right. It's not yours? Guy on the left: Well it becomes ours. Guy on the right: How is that not stealing? Guy on the left: [pauses] I don't think I'm explaining this very well. Guy on the right: Okay. Guy on the left: Um... the 7-11. You take a penny from the tray, right? Guy on the right: From the cripple children? Guy on the left: No that's the jar. I'm talking about the tray. You know the pennies that are for everybody? Guy on the right: Oh for everybody. Okay. Guy on the left: Well those are whole pennies, right? I'm just talking about fractions of a penny here. But we do it from a much bigger tray and we do it a couple a million times.

Nakkh: I spoke with a guy several years back who ran a 300 million dollar bank that catered to low income people and men & women in the military. He had 100,000 customers with avg. balances of 15-20 dollars. His bank's business model was to charge large fees for overdrafts which are common for this demographic. The man and his bank preyed on these customers.
